Victorian McGee Collection – Pens from the Curious Curio Shoppe of Wonderland
Step through the fog-draped alleys of an imagined Victorian London where time has folded in on itself like the petals of a withering rose, and you may stumble upon the peculiar little shoppe of Mr. McGee. This toymaker and tale-weaver has, quite mysteriously, taken up residence in the realm of Plushie Dreadfuls. Within his shadowy boutique, nestled among clockwork rabbits and stitched-up sorrows, lies a curious collection of pens, each more bewitching than the last.
From the tea-stained paws of the Dormouse to the button-eyed gaze of Red Riding Hood (who now resides quite uncomfortably in the Vale of Tears), these pens capture the grim whimsy of characters both Wonderland-born and fairytale-forsaken. Alice herself, blue of dress and heavy of heart, leads the troupe. She is joined by her ever-late White Rabbit, the cryptic Cheshire Cat, and even the melancholic Mock Turtle. Each figure perched atop these writing implements is rendered in rubbery charm, as if ready to whisper secrets into your hand as you scribble.
And scribble you shall. These pens, though delightfully adorned, are no mere trinkets. Their ink flows smooth as lullabies, and their shape rests easily in the hand. They are as much a joy to use as they are to behold.
By dreaming backward through time, this collection slips neatly past the grasp of modern giants, the sort who hoard copyrights like dragons. It finds its footing instead in the wilds of public domain. A pen from this set is not merely a tool. It is a passport to a stranger sort of Wonderland, where stories are stitched from shadow and the past is only another tale waiting to be told.
